Infamous Yamcha, whose destiny is always to be beaten by low grade ennemies !

Strategy Edit

Yamcha is a weak close combat oriented character which is best played at arena's maximum heights in order to buy him some time after using Wolf Fang Fist or Chou Soukidan.

Best moves Edit

Violent Rush + Chou Soukidan Edit

This is the most damaging combo with Yamcha (about 11k HP for Ultimate Blast). Chou Soukidan being easily avoidable, the best way to use it is to pummel ennemy with Violent Rush first, then make a quick teleport backward, then launch the Ultimate Blast.

Curiously, Chou Soukidan is neither dodged of fully landed when fired in middle of Ki Blasts flurry ; ennemy can manage so he takes only half damages, and animation is skipped.

Note also that unlike most if not all energy-based Ultimate Blasts, Chou Soukidan doesn't cancel ennemy's lock.

An advantage : in Max Power Mode, Ki Blasts bounce on Yamcha.

Useful moves Edit

Wolf Fang Fist Edit

As short-ranged Rush Blast, you can use it easily at close range to quickly deals a low 8k HP damages.

And as a non-teleporting Rush Blast, the higher is landed, the longer ennemy's fall, and so the longer time given, for example to charge up 3 Ki Bars in order to use it again.

Afterimage Edit

Costly Blast 1 as it gives only 1 auto-dodge in exchange of 2 Blast Stocks, but can help since Yamcha is rather weak on melee, and his moves involve to be at close range.

Situational moves Edit

Kamehameha Edit

As a chargeable attack, it has inherent downsides making it hard to fully exploit it.

Body Strike Edit

Useful, but somewhat hard to use.

Power Up to the Very Limit Edit

This move is most useful if one spams Blasts 2. But Kameha is only situational, and Wolf Fang Fist can be spammed only if it connects in maximum height, giving Yamcha enough time to charge gain 3 Ki Bars while ennemy is falling down.

Weak spots Edit

No Step-In counterattack Edit

This harden even more Yamcha's yet hard melee time.

Against giant opponents Edit

Yamcha is as useless against giants as he is against every ennemy in the manga and anime.

Z-Items Edit

There are items which work the best with Yamcha :

  1. Equipment Slot +3
  2. Health +19 : Best resistance item (Defense +19 is second and Mystery of Sheron is last, on Majin Buu and probably on all characters).
  3. Ultimate Blast +19 : Chou Soukidan is almost a guaranteed hit if used after Violent Rush and backward teleport.
